NBC’s “Chicago PD” announced one of the biggest disappointments this year when they shared that Jesse Lee Soffer would not be returning to portray Halstead!!
This caused tons of drama within the One Chicago fandom and fans are still very upset that he’s not on the show and it’s been months since his last episode.
Now that we’re creeping onto 2023, fans want to know if there’s a chance that Jesse will come back and Chicago PD creator let fans know that there’s no chance.
The creator shared:
“We’ll definitely hear about what’s going on, for sure, and tell stories about that absence,” showrunner Gwen Sigan told TV Insider. “There are no plans to see him onscreen, but we’re very excited that he is coming and directing one. I think he’s gonna really enjoy it. I think it will be a nice opportunity for him.”
Such a bummer but also glad to still have him apart of the family in 2023!
Jesse’s farewell message:

I will always be proud of my time as Det. Jay Halstead.”
